Waste battery collection machine encourages children to collect batteries by giving candy. In Afyonkarahisar, it has been reported that a new one has been added to the studies carried out by the Environmental Services Association for the recycling of waste batteries. In the statement made by the association, it was stated that waste batteries are often thrown into the same trash bin with organic waste and batteries containing many heavy metals such as zinc, manganese, silver and mercury are very dangerous for the environment. In the statement, it was stated that the batteries mixed with the soil pass to people through plants and animals and cause birth defects and even cancer, and the first condition of minimizing the damage of waste batteries is to raise awareness of the citizens about the harm caused by waste batteries to nature and people. While training activities have been carried out primarily for primary school students since 2007 by the Environmental Services Association, waste battery collection campaigns have been organized to ensure the recycling of waste batteries. As a continuation of the work, two schools were given waste battery machines, one of the machines bought to the Governor Ahmet Özyurt Primary School in Çay district by Afyonkarahisar Environmental Services Association and TAP Foundation, and one of the machines bought to the union by Miroğlu Cleaning Company, was given to Private Zafer College. Students are encouraged to recycle waste batteries by gifting candy to children who bring a waste battery machine and waste batteries. It is aimed to raise the awareness of the students about waste battery collection and to make recycling studies more efficient by taking the waste battery machine to other schools in certain periods. The waste battery machine does not accept charged batteries, thus ensuring that only waste batteries are collected separately. In the statement, it was stated that thanks to the schools and teachers who support this project, waste batteries will be prevented from being thrown into nature haphazardly.
